Collections Specialist Expand

The role requires someone with the ability to balance between maintaining trustful relationships and guaranteeing timely payments. You should possess outstanding communication and negotiation skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of laws and policies related to debt collection. The Key Objective of the Collections Specialist is to contribute to the growth and profitability of Parker Interior Plantscape by effectively executing the functions of a Collection Specialist while providing additional support to the other team members and managers. Specifically, under the general direction of the Controller, as she is responsible and has commensurate authority for the following:

Responsibilities:
A Collections Specialist is a professional who is responsible for resolving overdue bills and collecting payments from those who owe. They must ensure that they keep their employer's assets safe while also making sure those responsible for unpaid bills are contacted immediately. Your duties will include reviewing account alterations, resolving client inconsistencies, and collecting overdue payments.

Essential Functions:
• Monitor the Parker’s accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts daily.
• Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect in installments with approval of Manager.
• Follow-up with clients on overdue accounts.
• Create weekly A/R aging, credit holds, and credit release reports.
• Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress.
• Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing.
• Respond to client account queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent accounts as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.
• Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing.
• Use credit bureau data, post office information, internet searches and any other tool to try to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers.
• Reduce our 60–90-day balance accounts to a current level.
• Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress.
• Investigate historical data for debts and bills.
• Monitor all calls and ensure completion within required timeframe and ensure compliance to all policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with all team members to resolve all cash application issues and identify root causes for non-payment.
• Notify the accounting department, salespersons, and manager on all service interruptions/holds and all failed collection attempts.
• Refer and stay connected with our collection agency and follow up on all accounts referred to the agency.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role. (2 years)
• Excellent knowledge of billing procedures.
• Knowledge of various collection techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Including Word, Excel, Teams, & Outlook.
• Ability to manage time with little supervision.
• Ability to demonstrate strong organization, negotiation, and follow up skills.
• Comfortable working with target and goals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a strong team player with good problem solving, good verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to overcome obstacles & get results.
• High School Diploma
• Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Physical / Environmental Elements:
• Candidate must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
• Candidate is also required to stand; walk, stoop, crouch, reach, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
• Candidate may be subject to noise.

• Reduces legal risks and ensures regulatory compliance
• Administers health and safety programs
• Leadership (specifically envisioning, enrolling, energizing, execution); creative problem solving, initiative and follow through, collaboration
• Guide teams through processes and programs, including performance management and compensation reviews, headcount planning & organization management, succession planning, and talent & succession planning
• Supports the achievement of the organization's business goals and strategic objectives
• Manage day to day HR and payroll operations
• Demonstrates all company core values

Your Experience:
• Five (5) years or more payroll/HR experience
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals
• Attention to detail
• Proven understanding of employment law
• Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
• Outstanding organizational ability
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Strong conflict management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task
• Proficient in MS Office
• Bilingual is a plus (English/Spanish)
